The fourth national language of Switzerland, spoken by a small minority in Graubünden.
Also called: Rumantsch, Rätoromanisch
Romansh (rumantsch) is spoken by well under one percent of the population, mainly in Graubünden. Nearly all Romansh speakers also speak German, and their searches are mostly in German.
There is a written standard (Rumantsch Grischun) and several regional variants. Its language code is «rm».
Why Romansh matters in Switzerland
For most companies Romansh pages are a sign of respect and local roots rather than a source of traffic. Tourism, public services and regional brands in Graubünden are the exceptions.
Our tip
If you add Romansh, use the hreflang code rm-CH and link it like any other language version.
