Adapting content to a market – language, currency, examples, legal details and tone – instead of only translating it.
Also called: localization, l10n
Localisation changes everything a local reader would notice: spelling, units, prices, phone formats, delivery terms, legal references, examples and pictures.
For SEO it also means local keywords. The most common term in one country is often not the literal translation of the term in another.
Why Localisation matters in Switzerland
Switzerland has its own currency, VAT rate, spelling and payment habits. A simply translated page shows it is not made for Swiss buyers.
Our tip
Make a short checklist for Swiss pages: CHF, VAT 8.1 %, +41, «ss», Swiss address, TWINT – and check every page against it.
